One Year Anniversary
One year ago today we moved with anticipation and excitement into our new home… Here is how the view changed from our living room window throughout the seasons.

Coats & Shoes
As our hallway is so tiny we had to find another place to store coats and shoes. The previous owner had put up a run of brass coat hooks mounted onto a pine board just inside the kitchen right next to the hallway. We liked this solution, but wanted to improve on the design to include hat, bag and shoe storage and a more modern aesthetic.
We bought 4 Hat-Coat hooks for the top row, and 4 of the smaller hooks on a row further down for bags.
To keep the shoes tidy and off the floor, I saw this clever solution online which we are going to adapt. (Love the green door!) To build one yourself - here is the link:

New oven installed
We managed to sell our old combined oven and hob last week, and it was collected on Saturday. The timing was perfect as it allowed for the installation of our new Bosh electric oven this weekend. Unfortunately however, we cant reconnect the gas hob until we get the new countertop in when a registered installer can do it for us... so in the meantime, please forward any oven-only meal suggestions as it will be rather difficult to heat up soup and boil water for pasta now!
We still have the doors to put on the dishwasher, washing machine and sink, but after that all the cabinets will be in place.
P.S. The cabinets have a blue film that protects the doors until we are finished with everything - we haven't put in a blue kitchen!

Where we left the kitchen in 2010
Since you've been asking for an update I thought I'd start 2011 with a reminder of where we left off before Christmas. These images of the kitchen sink area give you a good idea of where we got to with the kitchen installation. You can see the pale blue film on the new upper cabinets in the bottom image.
