'Green A-pear-ition' Smoothie

Here it is, my next breakfast smoothie concoction - a 'Green A-pear-ition'!  As the name would suggest, the key ingredients are 'Greens' and 'Pears'.  To re-create 2 healthy glasses blend:

- 1 banana
- 1 cup of Soya milk
- Handful of frozen pear chunks
- Steamed Spinach (frozen if available)
- Handful of Kale (raw or steamed)
- Spoonful of yogurt to thicken
- 5-6 leaves of fresh mint, finely chopped (the blender may not mince them
- Spoonful of honey to taste

Enjoy!

'Carrot You See I'm Smiling?' Smoothie

Ive been getting into adding vegetables into my weekend smoothies and this one I have called the 'Carrot You See I'm Smiling?' smoothie because its main flavouring ingredient is carrots!  As I dont have a juicer, I boiled a batch of carrots first to soften them so that they wouldn't be too gritty before freezing them.

To re-create:

1 banana
Handful of pre-cooked (frozen) carrots
Handful of frozen strawberries
Spoonful of Honey
Spoonful of creme fraishe
Orange Juice
Soya Milk

Nectarine and Banana Smoothie

I bought a basket of nectarines a little while back and because they were ripening faster than I could eat them, I chopped them up and froze them so that they wouldn't go to waste. Combined with some orange juice, fresh banana, and a dollop of honey and a splash of soya milk - they made a refreshing morning smoothie!

Sticky buns

Now that the weather has turned autumnal and my renovation tasks have dwindled, I decided to spend a lazy sunday baking these cinnamon, walnut and cranberry sticky buns. The plan was to have them for breakfast but buy the time the dough had proofed, twice, and they had finished baking, they became an afternoon accompaniment to my cup of tea instead!

A new way to eat Spinach

I've got into a smoothie kick recently, and came up with this tasty, super healthy combination packed with anti-oxidants. For two glasses:
  • 1 banana
  • 2 good handfuls of spinach, lightly steamed in a very small amount of water (which you throw into the mix so as not to loose any of the goodness!)
  • 2 small handfulls of blueberries
  • Squeeze of lime
  • Dollop of creme fraish
  • Honey to taste
  • Soy milk or milk
Enjoy!
