A breath of spring

There are already signs of spring around the neighbourhood. Snow drops are up, and blossoms are beginning to bloom. Here is a sprig I clipped as a souvenir, which Ive put in the bathroom.

Bedroom Shutters - Part 2

I was so pleased to finally, after a year of waiting, have one set of bedroom shutters installed that it has motivated me to start working on the second pair. I have spent some time sanding and filling them this weekend, and now they also have their base coat on each side. In the detailed photo you can see how Flo has infilled the cutouts where the old hinges went with new wood. Just 3 more coats to go each side and they will be ready to hang.

Kissing Rabbits

Wishing you a Happy Valentines Day! Ive had my eye on this 'Kissing Rabbits' tray from Anorak and decided to buy it as a treat for myself (and for the kitchen).

Pre-Spring Flowers

I bought these bulbs last January and when they were finished I stored them away in a dark cupboard for the rest of the year. I took them out into the sunlight and warmth of the flat last month and they have just started to bloom... They seem a bit crooked compared to the first time they bloomed, but they still make the flat smell heavenly, and hint at the promise of spring.

Bedroom Shutters In - Part 1 of 2

I have been slowly working away sanding and painting the shutters which we took down and had stripped almost a year ago today. They are grey on the inside so they match the fireplace when closed, and white on the outside so when folded into the pocket it looks like a wall panel.

We took a break from the kitchen and installed the first set this weekend. I still have two other pairs to sand and paint(the bedroom and the kitchen), but it was satisfying to get these up at last. They also help keep the draught out.

Drawer Organisation

Thanks Dad and Connie for my wooden knife organiser - it fits the drawer size and works perfectly! Also see the drawer organiser we got from IKEA for the silverwear, which keeps everything nice and tidy and makes me happy (because Im just like that!).

Cabinet Ironmongery in

The handles I wanted from Hafele were out of stock until mid January, so we had to wait a little while for them to arrive. Here they are installed at last. I havent removed the blue protective film yet from the cabinets as we are still slowly working on infilling all the holes made in the walls and ceiling when the electrics were adjusted and I want to wait until Ive painted.
